Abstrack:

New order era in Soeharto?s regime is considered to be repressive and authoritative along with cases of human rights violation and pressure for information freedom. Three media had been banned at that time in 1994, which were Tempo, Detik and Editor because the news was considered to jeopardize national stability. After Soeharto?s fall in 1998, Detik reappeared in the new form and this time in Detik magazine 68th edition, entitled Mimpi Membangkitkan Soeharto, there is news which specially discusses Soeharto figure and memory about him. By using Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis method and Foucault?s theory of discourse, in description level, it is found that there are kinds of practices in marginalizing Soeharto known by informants? choice, comparison to President Soekarno, mentioning Soeharto?s name without President title and negative data about him which are not balanced with positive data during Soeharto?s regime. In interpretation level, it is found that there is a discourse practice from media agent, especially Detik owner, Budiono Darsono who was Detik journalist in new order era when that magazine was banned. In explanation level, background of President General Election preparation 2014 also shapes Soeharto discourse in the text, such as Soeharto poster greeting people is used Republik Satu party for its political interest in President General Election preparation 2014.
