Abstrack:
Minangkabau society is one so many ethnic groups in Indonesia and uniquely embraces matrilineal system and its people are famous for their non-sedentary habit. It is also worthy to note that Minangkabau culture is also based on Islamic teachings. The religion has been considered very crucial to shape one?s personality. The harmony between matrillinieal system and the adherence to Islamic teachings has made a differing characteristics of Minangkabau society when it is compared to other Indonesian ethnic groups.
